Hygiene and Preventative Care

At Sharyland Dental Care we have a highly trained hygiene team. A proper cleaning should do more than what you could do at home for yourself. Plaque contains live and dead bacteria, debris, and toxins. Tartar is just calcified plaque. These serve as irritants to the supporting structure of the teeth. In response, the supporting structure reacts by shrinking away from the tartar. Without treatment, inflammation occurs, and the end result is bone loss and the eventual loss of teeth. The biofilm that exists under plaque and tartar can only be removed by vibration and irrigation from hygiene instruments. A proper cleaning takes time as well as skill.
